چکیده
This article aims to be a self-contained account of the history B Newman Spelling Theorem, including historical context in which it arose. First, an and how he came prove his Theorem is given, together with description author's efforts track this information down. Following this, high-level combinatorial group theory given. then tied word problem, fundamental problem area. After some one-relator groups, important part theory, natural division line into torsion torsion-free case for such groups described. culminates statement general discussion about its importance.

Let E be a B-complete (B -complete) locally convex algebra and $ the topological direct sum of countably many copies of the scalar field with a jointly continuous algebra multiplication. It has been shown that E is also B-complete (B -complete) for componentwise multiplication on E . B-and Br-completeness of E , the unitization of E, and also of E x for other multiplications on E ...
متن کاملThe Aizenman-Kesten-Newman Theorem
The uniqueness of the infinite open cluster in the setting of bond percolation on the square grid was proven by Harris in 1960 [6]. As shown by Fisher in 1961 [4], Harris’ proof can be extended to include site percolation on the square grid. Aizenman, Kesten, and Newman [1] show that this fact is true in a much more general setting, as well. Let Λ be a connected, infinite, locally-finite, verte...
متن کاملNewman ’ s proof of Wiener ’ s Theorem by E B Davies 21 March 2005
Since Wiener's original proof of his theorem about periodic functions whose Fourier series are absolutely summable, a variety of quite different proofs have been devised. Some of these are described in [2, Sect. B.9.4]. In this paper we rewrite the beautiful proof of Newman [1] in a slightly more general form, so that it may be readily applied to a variety of related problems. Although we use t...
متن کاملBCR algorithm and the T (b) theorem
We show using the Beylkin-Coifman-Rokhlin algorithm in the Haar basis that any singular integral operator can be written as the sum of a bounded operator on L, 1 < p < ∞, and of a perfect dyadic singular integral operator. This allows to deduce a local T (b) theorem for singular integral operators from the one for perfect dyadic singular integral operators obtained by Hofmann, Muscalu, Tao, Thi...
متن کاملOn B. Mossé's unilateral recognizability theorem
We complete statement and proof for B. Mossé’s unilateral recognizability theorem. We also provide an algorithm for deciding the unilateral non-recognizability of a given primitive substitution.
